First - if stem cells are crucial in the next set of cures and obvious to everyone, then why is the market not funding it's own research. The facts belie your belief.
Second, historical facts should belie the strength of your convictions. There have been more "next best cures" that have turned out meaningless, than there have been "next best cures" that actually cured something. This stands to reason as many failures must happen before any one given success.
The point solely that the strength of the argument that "stem cells" are going to give us everything can't be sustained by the current facts.
Disclaimer: I'm not anti-stem cell research, only the government role in it.
