government funding for stem cell research
Taxpayers don't have to agree with how every dime of their taxes are spent. There are people in this country that don't support blood transfusions, tissue donation, all kinds of things that public money had and continues to have a hand in funding. That's the nature of representative government. You can't fund science without affecting the attention those fields will receive, so I don't believe that's of much relevance here. Clearly the research offers promise. The only thing left is moral objection to the use of embryos, which so far appears to be absent here.
